serpentijn cycling kit design
Serpentijn is a non-profit organization that was founded to make a positive impact through art and athletics, based on the belief that both play a vital role in learning and living life to its fullest.
Serpentijn wanted us (MIAD’s exclusive Special Projects Group) to create a toile pattern for their upcoming cycling kit. Toile pattern often features a single, monochrome color palette with a repeating scene throughout the composition. Within this pattern, a story is often told.
Final pattern design
In this toile pattern, I wanted to express the brand’s values of inclusion and positivity. With this unconventional imagery, I wanted to show that a person can do anything they put their mind to, no matter what their skills or setbacks are. This ties in with the brand’s values, and I wanted to make sure to express that through the design. This pattern showcases a bear on a biking race, where it eventually wins the race against all odds. As an easter egg, I incorporated small snake motifs in the pattern to tie it back to the brand name.

This entire set includes all of the assets needed to complete the kit and be used by the members of this company who bike competitively yearly. In the kit, I wanted to create a nice balance between the pattern while also showcasing the brand identity clearly.
